Prefer that we call you?

Leave your ZIP code and contact details, and we will follow up.

We use this information only to connect you with a provider. See our privacy policy.

Calls are answered by an automated assistant and may be recorded. If this is a medical emergency, call 911.

Check care in their city

You do not need your loved one’s ZIP code. Most people do not know it. Their city and state is enough.

How it works

The simplest call you’ll make.

Other services hand you a list and wish you luck. We work out who serves the area where care is needed.

1

Call the one number

Dial 1-800-HOMECARE (1-800-466-3227). It has connected families with care since the 1990s, and it is the only one you need to remember.

2

Tell us where care is needed

If our automated assistant answers, just say the place, the way you would say it to a person.

“I need care in Hartford, Connecticut.”

3

Talk to the local provider

We connect your call to the private duty provider or certified home health agency that serves that market. In markets still opening, we take your details and follow up.

Two kinds of care at home.

The 1-800-HOMECARE network includes both kinds of in-home providers.

Private duty home care

Day-to-day help at home

Ongoing, non-medical support that helps your parent stay safe and comfortable in their own home. It is the everyday kind of help that lets them keep living life on their own terms, and lets you stop worrying between visits.

Certified home health

Skilled care at home

Care from certified home health agencies, the clinical side of in-home care, typically arranged when a parent is recovering or managing a medical condition and needs professional care where they live.

Not sure which one your parent needs? That’s the normal starting point.

When families call us

Almost nobody plans this phone call. Something changes, and suddenly you’re the one figuring out care.

“Mom’s coming home from the hospital.”

Discharge is in two days and she can’t be alone yet. One call can connect you with a provider who can talk through what help at home looks like, starting now.

“Dad needs more help than we can give.”

You can’t be there every day, and you shouldn’t have to carry that alone. A local provider can talk through what would help.

“I’m just looking, for now.”

Plenty of families research quietly before anyone has the conversation. Take your time with our guides, and call when you’re ready.

A growing licensed network

Where we have a licensed local provider, we connect you. In markets still opening, the same call still works: we take down what your family needs and follow up.

Our story

It started with care for his own father

In the 1990s, Gregg Hamerschlag started his own home care business after experiencing in-home care for his father. He saw firsthand the care and compassion his father’s caregivers showed, and knew it was a business he wanted to be part of.

He reserved the 1-800-HOMECARE number to make it easy for patients and their families to connect with his business. Within a short time, the number had helped him double the number of patients his business served.

A tool that powerful was too valuable for one company in one area. So he founded today’s 1-800-HOMECARE: one memorable number, a national footprint across the lower 48 states, and, since then, many thousands of families helped to find care. The AI routing is the newest chapter of the same idea: make finding care for someone you love as simple as one phone call.

Many markets are still open for licensing. If yours is open, your agency could be the one these calls route to.

Questions families ask

I don’t know my parent’s ZIP code. Can I still call?

Yes. A city and state is enough, on the phone and on this page.

How does the call work?

Depending on where you are calling from, your call connects directly to a provider or is answered by our automated assistant. The assistant asks where care is needed and connects you if a provider serves that area. Calls may be recorded.

What if there’s no licensed provider in their city yet?

Call anyway, or leave your details. We will take down what your family needs and follow up.

Who are the providers I’ll be connected to?

Independent private duty home care providers and certified home health agencies. You can see them on our provider search page.

Is looking this up private?

You can search without giving your name or phone number. Our privacy policy explains what we collect and how we use it.

I’m not the patient. Is this still for me?

Yes. Sons, daughters, friends and caregivers are welcome to call on someone’s behalf.
